What OVI does in one sentence

OVI answers every inbound call to your OVI phone number, qualifies the lead, captures their name, email, and job details, and logs everything to your dashboard — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even when you're on a job.

What is OVI?

OVI (Operent Voice Intelligence) is an AI phone receptionist built into your Operent dashboard. When a potential customer calls your OVI number, OVI answers, has a natural conversation, figures out what they need, and captures their details as a lead.

You never miss an enquiry again — no voicemail, no missed calls, no manually logging leads from Post-it notes.

How to set up OVI

OVI setup takes about 5 minutes:

  1. Go to Settings → OVI in your dashboard.
  2. You'll see your dedicated OVI phone number (provisioned automatically for your account).
  3. Review the default call script — it's pre-populated for your industry vertical.
  4. Customise: add your business name, the services OVI should ask about, your service area, and your hours.
  5. Save. OVI is live immediately — call the number to test it yourself.
Tip: Call your OVI number after setup and pretend to be a customer. It's the fastest way to hear what your callers experience and catch anything you want to tweak.

What OVI asks on a call

The default OVI script (adapted to your industry) typically covers:

  • What service or product they're looking for
  • When they need it (date/time)
  • Where they're located (service area check)
  • Their name and best contact number or email
  • Any specific requirements or questions

You can add, remove, or reorder questions in Settings → OVI → Edit Script.

How leads appear in your dashboard

After every call, a new lead appears in OVI → Calls. Each entry shows:

  • Caller name, number, and email (if captured)
  • Full call transcript
  • Lead score (0–100) — how qualified the lead is based on the conversation
  • Lead quality rating (Hot / Warm / Cold)
  • AI-recommended action (e.g. "Call back within 2 hours — high-value enquiry")
  • Job details captured during the call
Note: You can convert a lead into a booking with one click. OVI pre-fills the customer details and job info — you just review and confirm.

Customising the script

Go to Settings → OVI → Edit Script. You can:

  • Business name — how OVI introduces itself ("Hi, you've reached [Your Business], I'm the virtual assistant...")
  • Services list — what OVI knows to ask about and quote
  • Service area — cities or postcodes OVI serves; OVI will politely tell out-of-area callers you don't cover their location
  • Hours — OVI can tell callers your operating hours
  • Custom questions — add any qualifying question specific to your business (e.g. "How many guests?" for event rental, "What size is the garden?" for landscapers)

Forwarding calls to OVI

OVI works best as your always-on fallback. The most common setups:

Forward mobile missed calls → OVI
On iPhone: Settings → Phone → Call Forwarding (when no answer). On Android: Phone app → Settings → Supplementary services → Forward when unanswered. Enter your OVI number.
Advertise OVI number directly
List the OVI number on your Google Business Profile, website, and leaflets as your main contact number. OVI answers instantly; you review leads and call back.
Use OVI for after-hours only
Keep your mobile as the primary line during the day. Enable call forwarding only outside business hours so OVI captures evening and weekend enquiries.

Frequently asked questions

Does OVI work for inbound calls only?

Yes — OVI answers inbound calls to your OVI phone number. It doesn't make outbound calls. However, after a call OVI can send a follow-up SMS to the caller automatically.

What happens if OVI can't answer a question?

OVI will tell the caller it doesn't have that information and offer to pass on a message or take their contact details for a callback. It never makes up answers.

Can I listen to recorded calls?

Yes. Every call is saved in your dashboard under OVI → Calls. You'll see the transcript, lead score, and any notes OVI captured. Audio recordings are available on Pro and Enterprise plans.

What languages does OVI support?

OVI currently supports English only. Multi-language support is on the roadmap.

Will callers know they're talking to an AI?

OVI is designed to be conversational and helpful, not to deceive. At the start of each call OVI identifies itself as a virtual assistant. We recommend keeping the disclosure in your script.

Can I forward missed mobile calls to OVI?

Yes — most mobile carriers allow conditional call forwarding (calls forward to another number when you don't answer). Forward to your OVI number and OVI picks up every missed call.

Is OVI included in my plan?

OVI is available on Growth, Pro, and Enterprise plans. Starter does not include OVI. You can upgrade any time from Settings → Billing.
